NON-PROFIT INITIATIVE / BENEFITS GUIDE

Benefits, finally navigable.

Healthcare benefits navigation for employers, health plans, and their members. Ask in plain language. Get a plain-language answer, grounded in the plan's own documents, with the citation attached.

01

THE PROBLEM

The plan document is the truth. Nobody can read it.

Ask a benefits question today and the answer arrives by hold music, a forwarded email, or a guess. Not because the answer doesn't exist. It does — precisely, in the Summary Plan Description nobody has ever read to the end.

Plan documents are written to be legally complete, not humanly readable. So the truth sits sealed in a PDF while members call, HR forwards, and member services reads from the same document everyone else gave up on.

Benefits Guide opens that document and answers from it. It doesn't summarize how insurance usually works. It reads what your plan actually says — and shows you the clause it stands on.

02

WHO IT SERVES

Built for all three sides of the plan

Three audiences, one source of truth. Each gets the answer in the register they need it — and every answer traces back to the same document.

EMPLOYERS

HR stops being the help desk

Your benefits team answers the same forty questions every enrollment season — from memory, under pressure. Benefits Guide answers them from the plan documents you actually signed, so HR handles exceptions instead of FAQs.

HEALTH PLANS

Deflection you can stand behind

Most self-service deflects calls by exhausting the caller. Benefits Guide deflects them by answering — with the source clause attached, so member services can audit any answer it gives.

MEMBERS

Plain language, with receipts

"Is this covered?" deserves a direct answer, not a portal. Members ask in their own words and get a plain-language answer with the citation attached — read the clause yourself if you want to.

03

TRUST MECHANICS

Why the answers hold up

The differentiator isn't that it answers. It's that the answers survive scrutiny. Evidence at every step — the same discipline we build into everything, applied to healthcare.

PLAN-GROUNDED

Your documents are the corpus

Answers come from your plan documents — SPDs, certificates of coverage, formularies — not from general knowledge about how insurance usually works. Your plan is the corpus. Nothing else is.

CITED ANSWERS

Every answer names its source

Each answer carries its citation: the document, the section, the clause. If an answer can't be traced to the source, it isn't given.

PHI-AWARE

Designed for protected health information

Data handling, access, and retention are architected around PHI from the first line — not retrofitted after the fact. Healthcare data is treated as what it is.

KNOWS ITS LIMITS

When the document doesn't answer, it says so

If the plan is silent or ambiguous on a question, Benefits Guide says so and routes to a human. An honest "this needs a person" beats a confident guess — in healthcare especially.

04

ORIGIN

Software that came back from the field.

Benefits Guide didn't start as a product idea. It started as a recurring problem. On forward-deployed engagements, the same request kept surfacing: people couldn't get straight answers about their own benefits, and the people paid to answer were reading from documents built to be filed, not read. We solved it once, then again — and then made it a product.

That is how we work: engineers embedded with customer teams, shipping against real problems until the pattern is undeniable. Benefits Guide is that pattern, productized.
